*8 Note. I'd have to concede that *n forms are widely enough distributed to warrant reconstructing the second form as well as the first. But is there any basis for distinguishing the length of the first vowel?
My rough tally suggests that both *n and *l forms show about equal numbers of reflexes with long & short vowels (Clk).
